Here is a little story on how I caught an “Evader” recently…
I get the documents from the client stating they need this individual served and recent attempts with other process servers have left them without success in doing so. Already I’m thinking “aww great here we go” but I reluctantly accepted the assignment.
On my first attempt I was left with no answer at the door, however I did manage to confirm residency with the neighbors directly across the street from my Target. Great. The next few attempts were basically the same.
About the fourth time I made contact with my Target’s son and from this point I knew my assignment had gone from mild-to lukewarm in regards to perfecting service.
I continue making attempts the next few days and received no response or action whatsoever from the house.
Saturday had passed and I had attempts at all but one of my papers. It was for my “Evader”. I started to go home on what I believed was a decent day of serving and skipping this one. I’m, glad I didn’t. As I pulled into my Targets driveway the garage opens up as if they were expecting me. He was. I get out of my truck and my Target starts walking towards me. I identified myself as a process server and he just stated “Man… You are relentless, you win I give up… Give me the damn papers”…
It was at this moment I realized how being diligent is recognized by both the client and the person being served.
